Old Shale - multiple of 18 stitches
Cast on 40 stitches (or desired width in a multiple of 18 + 4 edge stitches)
Row 1: Knit
Row 2: K2, purl to last 2 stitches, K2
Row 3: K2, (K2tog) 3 times, *(yo,K1) 6 times, (K2tog) 6 times* to last 8 stitches, (K2tog) 3 times, K2
Row 4: Knit

A very easy scarf to knit.  Needle size and yarn can vary for different effects. Knit to desired length and bind off.
